Smoked Cheddar - Godminster
This Oak-Smoked Vintage Organic Cheddar is made to the same recipe, using the same cheese as our Vintage Organic Cheddar before being cold-smoked over sustainably-sourced oak chippings.
We make our cheddar to a traditional 90-year-old recipe and then mature it for up to 12 months. After that, we select the very best cheese to make into one of our award-winning truckles. We then smoke it for up to 10 hours. This gives the cheddar a rich depth of flavour with a smooth texture.
Delicious on its own or as part of the perfect cheeseboard, Godminster Oak-Smoked Vintage Organic Cheddar is also a versatile ingredient in many showstopping recipes – we love it on a burger!
It has won many awards, perhaps most notably Gold at the World Cheese Awards 2018 in the Best Smoked Cheese category.
We hand wrap our cheese in reusable muslin. Then we seal it in industry-standard shrink-wrap that isn’t yet recyclable but we’re working on it.
We make all of our cheeses using pasteurised milk and they are certified organic by the Soil Association. Moreover, they contain no artificial preservatives. Each of these products is suitable for vegetarians.
